Fresh out of high school, Jess is happily naïve, planning to follow her boyfriend to college. Those plans, however, are turned upside down when he leaves her heartbroken at the airport before his European vacation. Allie, an old friend, saves the summer by offering Jess the chance to stay at her family’s Adirondack cabin and work at Sploosh, the family-owned water park.

Jess eagerly travels to Lake Hackle, even though it means living with her childhood crush, Allie’s older brother, Adam. Ten years ago, he made a promise to someday find Jess and marry her. When they meet again, it’s clear the innocent promise has not been forgotten. Adam’s still sweet and kind, but now he’s all grown up, head lifeguard, and completely swoon-worthy, reviving her childish adoration for him.

From blazing summer days at the water park to adventurous nights on the lake, Adam and Jess’s infatuation quickly intensifies, but there’s one major obstacle: his girlfriend.
